If I had to create perfection, I would add a beach (of course there are very few around Largo) and I would put it on the bay side for the sunsets. There are other things, like the Wolfgang Puck coffee, immaculate rooms, and the meticulously manicured grounds. No small thing with the pub band across the way and the inevitable boisterous vacationers. And the big one for me - the rooms are designed so that noise is pretty much obliterated when the doors are closed. I read other views where you get the room with the view of a parking lot or something - not here. The hotel is almost flawlessly designed to give every room a great view. great guys), one of the better restaurants in the region next to that, Snappers, and a bar visited by locals - all on the water! Really ideal. To start with, I didn't really get the layout from the description other reviews (probably didn't dig deep enough) - the hotel has a boat rental place right next door, Island Explorers Water Sports (I'm going to put in a good review for Ray and Eric on their thread. I'm pretty picky about hotels/resorts, but I was really impressed with this place. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and plan to return in the future. There would be enough space to add some more chairs. At the beginning of the week, there were only maybe 4-6 people at the pool, but when all the weekenders started showing up, there weren't enough chairs for everyone. Also, the size of the pool area was fine for that size hotel. Some things for the hotel to consider-our room only had one towel bar and while this sounds nit-picky, when you go to the pool and have wet bathing suits and towels (we brought our own towels) you need a place to hang them up. We had a feeling that she was one of the owners, because you would think that saying good morning and conversing with guests when they start talking to you would be a part of the job. The older woman at the front desk is not a real conversationalist. Cons-We did not find the front desk to be particularly helpful with area info and attractions. The hotel for the most part is updated and they've done a good job of creating a relaxing Caribbean type atmosphere. It's continental, but still a lot of choices. The other nice thing is that they have paddle boats and other water activities for your use for free. It's on the water and right next to a restaurant that has good food and live music. Dove Creek Resort & Marina, Trademark Collection by Wyndham: Laid-Back Coolness - See 1,128 traveler reviews, 739 candid photos, and great deals for Dove Creek Resort & Marina, Trademark Collection by Wyndham at Tripadvisor. I can guarantee that every time we visit the Keys, we will be staying here.We enjoyed our week at Dove Creek Lodge. I can't say enough great things about this hotel. This is also how we came about this hotel, through different fishing forums online. My husband is also an avid angler so he tends to be picky when guides take him out, but he really enjoyed his trip. My new husband did go on an inshore fishing tour set up by Gwen (she is great), and although he didn't catch anything (the weather was quite windy on our stay) he did have a great time. We drove all the way to The Fish Company in Islamorada (behind Wide World of Sports) most nights and enjoyed great food and service their each time as well as a gorgeous view (its on the water and we HIGHLY reccomend this place). We never did eat at Snappers due to the reviews. Throughout our stay we enjoyed the continental breakfast each morning. Especially how there is only carpet in the bedroom (makes for a cleaner environment). The hotel has been recently renovated and we LOVED the decor. This is all enclosed by mangroves and on one side are boat slips. There is a great pool and spa next to two hammocks. If you are looking however for a beach front hotel, this is not for you. After exploring the one bedroom suite we reserved we went on a tour of the premesis. Inside was an Easter basket for us (seeing as we checked in on Easter day). During check in Gwen congratulated us on our marriage and showed us to our room. We were still hesitant to spend so much money ( the rates are pretty high during Spring Break) but I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We are young mid 20's couple and we compromised on staying here after reading all of the great reviews we found. We visited Dove Creek Lodge in late March for our Honeymoon.
